VIVAT ORGAN South Bohemian International Organ Festival
The Vivat Organ festival, which has been held since 2010, consists of concerts given by outstanding organ interpreters, most of them Czech. The concerts include both solo performances and variouschambeforinconcertos with orchestra accompaniment.
The festival is organized by the civic organization Czech Culture.
Slavonice belongs among the Renaissance cities southwest of Moravia, located in the southern part of the Bohemian-Moravian highlands near the Austrian border. The earliest written record dates from 1260. Between the two squares is situated the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with the dominant urban tower, which was built in the years 1503-1549 under Master Michael. For its uniqueness, the city was declared the urban conservation area on 31. 8. 1961.
